John Markson leads all MarksonHRC client engagements.

John is the founder and president of MarksonHRC and has over 25 years of experience in consulting on a wide spectrum of compensation and benefit issues for companies of all sizes in diverse industries. John is a former managing principal at the global management consulting firm of Towers Perrin and also held several executive human-resource positions at Mobil Oil.

John writes and speaks frequently on pay, human resource and risk-management topics and keeps his advice firmly grounded in the context of improving business results. John believes the most sophisticated compensation designs lose much of their value if they cannot be readily communicated and administered. Therefore, he takes a practical approach to applying his technical and strategic expertise to meeting clients’ needs. This approach is manifest in John’s clear and straightforward consulting style.

John graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in economics, is a credentialed actuary and holds an MBA in finance from George Washington University.

John is also the co-founder and board chair of the non-profit Orion School. Located in Atlanta, The Orion School is the premiere school in the Southeast for educating children with severe AD/HD and associated learning and behavioral disabilities.
